- ✓Rear-mounted engines and a T-tail — bizjet DNA in plain sight
- ✓Sits very low to the ground; the boarding door has its own fold-down stairs
- ✓Long, slim cabin with famously small windows set low in the fuselage

The jet that built the regional-airline system. Stretched from the Challenger business jet, the CRJ turned thousands of thin routes into jet routes through the 1990s and 2000s. Production ended in 2020, but CRJ700s and 900s remain everywhere in North American skies, shuttling between hubs and small cities. Low-slung, rear-engined, T-tailed — it's the last of a classic configuration in mainline passenger service.
